Islam is a way of life, it doesn’t have a perspective

humans have perspectives as they try to do Islam

in terms of the perspectives of scholars, there are a few, 1. totally accepting evolution, 2. totally rejecting evolution, 3. accepting some things and rejecting others

  1. Accepting – these people say evolution is scientifically proven and therefore we should accept it. They are in two categories:

a) Science deals with the material world, Islam deals with universal truths. Science changes and updates, Islam does not. Islam is the absolute truth, science is a lesser truth. We can accept that evolution is the best theory we have right now while saying Islam is the ultimate truth about reality that doesn’t need science to agree.

b) Trying to reconcile evolution with Islam by compromising Islamic beliefs. This can be extreme and they might say evolutionary theory is totally true, and Adam coming from Jannah is metaphorical or it’s a place on earth (very extreme or possibly kufri views).

The only position here which cannot even be considered is that evolution is totally true and that Islam has to be subservient to science. Anything else is acceptable.

  1. Totally Rejecting Evolution –

Some ‘ulama totally rejected evolution, said it was not compatible with Islam, that Allah created each animal individually, and showed the many flaws in evolutionary theory. Evolutionary theory is not perfect by any means and it truly does have some serious flaws that are not being addressed. This is an acceptable position to hold.

  1. Accepting Some things and Rejecting Others –

These scholars might say that evolution is totally true except when it comes to Adam. Adam was a kind of evolutionary leap that Allah created by a miracle, but the rest of evolution is fine to accept. This is an acceptable position.

Whatever a scholar or a Muslim accepts is fine so long as it’s not 1.b., compromising Islamic beliefs. You can add to your view of the world all you want as a Muslim so long as you are not changing or compromising or removing the beliefs clearly in the Qur’an and Sunnah. So long as someone believes that Allah created Adam with His Two Hands, put Adam in Jannah, that Adam came out of Jannah for eating a fruit with his wife by believing the Shaytan, then came to earth and had human children – they are fine

They can believe whatever is most convincing to them after that و الله اعلى و اعلم
